Southwark Park: A Guided Tour

Find out about the key moments in the history of one London's oldest parks. First opened to the public in 1869, Southwark Park has grown from former market gardens into a Grade 2 Listed and Green Flag amenity. The walk will look at the part played by local people in achieving the many improvements that the community enjoy today. Local historian Pat Kingwell will relate how changes came about over time, with special focus on major features such as the Oval, the lake, the art galleries, sports facilities, the bandstand, the Jabez West memorial and the Ada Salter Garden.
